Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play PlayStation phone


Sony Ericsson’s the has had its time in the lime light at the MWC ’11 in Barcelona this year. Full specs are out on the PS phone, which features hardware PSP Go style control’s on an Android 2.3 mobile phone.

Games will be delivered through the Android Marketplace, and the system will ship with Asphalt Adrenaline 6, Bruce Lee, Star Battalion, The Sims 3, and Tetris preloaded, along with a “legendary” PlayStation title. More than 50 additional titles from top franchises at leading game publishers will be available for purchase at launch. We have learnt that Sony will be re-releasing some PSone classic’s on the phone that are “tweaked” to suit the Play’s screen resolution.

Even so there is the PSX4Droid application on Android Market, that’s a fully featured PSone emulator that can run ISO’s even PSX eboot’s intended for the PSP.

Sony promises gaming will be at a smooth 60fps using the ’s built-in Andreno 205 GPU. The Play’s battery can give over five hours of gameplay. Not bad, thats about on par with the PSP using its stock battery. Its also PlayStation certified, meaning you’ll get a full PlayStation certified experience on the mobile phone.
